The Fairylands of Germany and Austria, 2015

Germany

We traveled trough the southern part of Germany with both our mothers in the month of June. The drive had many pleasant surprises for everyone.

Cochem in the Rhineland-Palatinate region is a small town surrounded by steep vineyards by the Mosel River valley.

Bernkastel-Kues in the same region is halfway between Trier and Cochem. A boat river with the family in the Mosel River was what I kept from this little town as a memory.

Close to the border with Luxembourg Trier is the oldest city in Germany.

In the Baden-Württemberg region Heidelberg is an enchanting town in the Rhine Valley.

A medieval castle overlooks the town of Tubingen and its half-timbered houses. 

Known for its Riesling wine which I happen to admire, Durbach is at the northern tip of the Black Forest mountains.

Nestled by the Alps in Bavaria, Füssen is a romantic town with its charming Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles.

Austria

Halstatt built on a narrow stretch of land by the on Lake Hallstatt is a charming town in Austria to stay for a day or two.

Salzburg with its medieval and baroque buildings in the Old City Altstadt was home to my beloved Mozart.
